The Public Services Commission Organises Free Breast Examination And Other Health Screening for Its Staff And Of Other Institutions Within The PSC Building.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month is commemorated in October each year across the world to increase awareness of early diagnosis and treatment.
This year, the Public Services Commission (PSC) as part of its activities, organised free health screening which included Breast Examinations, Blood Pressure and Sugar Levels on 30th October, 2023 for its staff and staff of other institutions within the PSC building.
According to the World Health Organisation report, 2.3 million women were diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020 with about 685,000 deaths recorded that year globally. Breast cancer, being the most frequently diagnosed cancer among women globally, accounts for 12.5 percent of all new annual cancer cases worldwide, compelling it to be the most predominant cancer in the world with approximately 50 percent in developing countries such as Ghana.
The exercise was supported by health personnel from Lekma Hospital at Ledzokuku-Krowor Municipal Assembly, Teshie who conducted the health screening. A total of fifty-four (54) persons were screened of which thirty-three (33) were females and twenty-one (21) were males.
