Sexual Harassment Training, Inauguration of Sexual Harassment Committee
On Wednesday, 1st November 2023, the Public Services Commission (PSC) organized a training workshop for all staff members on sexual harassment, the procedure for reporting, investigation process and sanctions.
The training workshop is part of the key activities to implement the Public Services Commission’s Gender Strategy and Action Plan under the Public Sector Reform for Results Project being implemented under the auspices of the Office of the Senior Presidential Advisor.
To commence the workshop, the Chairman of the Commission, Prof. Victor Kwame Agyeman, Esq. delivered an opening statement which affirmed the Commission’s adoption of a zero-tolerance policy on sexual harassment. Furthermore, he stated that the Commission was dedicated to fostering a professional environment that was conducive for all staff members irrespective of their gender, ethnicities and religion, amongst others.
A highlight of the training workshop was the inauguration of the Public Services Commission’s Sexual Harassment Committee, which is chaired by Dr. Mrs. Harriet Bani, the Deputy Secretary of the Human Resource Policy Division (HRPD). In her acceptance speech, Dr Bani expressed gratitude on behalf of the Committee and assured staff of their commitment in fulfilling their mandate.
Staff were subsequently taken through a presentation on Sexual Harassment in the Workplace by Ms. Sabia Kpekata, a resource person from the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection. The workshop was concluded by Dr Nana Agyemang Frimpong, a Member of the PSC who encouraged staff to report untoward advances and avoid inappropriate overtures at the workplace.
